An echocardiogram is generally a non-invasive procedure that allows a view of the heart while it’s beating. An echocardiogram may be performed to check the overall function of the heart, determine types of heart disease, view valve progress over time, and check on the effectiveness of previous medical or surgical procedures.
If your doctor is having trouble creating a clear picture of your heart, they may need to inject contrast fluid through an IV to get a better image of inside the heart. On occasion, more invasive testing may be needed. The knowledgeable of board-certified and fellowship-trained physicians at North Shore Cardiac Imaging will create an individualized treatment plan just for you.
