A multigated acquisition scan is a non-invasive procedure that is used to evaluate the pumping function of the ventricles. A video is created of the lower chambers of the heart to show any abnormalities in the size of the chambers and the movement of blood. This video can show potential heart muscle damage and information about blocked arteries.
A multigated acquisition scan does use Technetium 99, a radioisotope used as a tracer for medical diagnosis. Even though, this test uses radioactive substances the side effects are minimal. The patient is exposed to less radioactive substances than that of a normal x-ray.
Staff at North Shore Cardiac Imaging will make sure you are comfortable every step of the way with your testing.
